Summoning a heron

Summoning a heron

We've been living in paradise for 2 days: a great house, on an incredible island, and the weather couldn't be better. In the room, there was a bathtub in the middle. We weren't using it, and it made me angry to leave it unused. It was the first time I've ever looked for a serious photo using myself as a model. Twisting in the bathtub, with the remote shutter, I was looking for something acceptable.

Until, next to the bathtub, I noticed the flamingos.

Day 3. 7:15 AM. A bird had sung every day outside our cabin, rejoicing in the sunrise. We, not so much. On the third day, completely out of my mind, I decided to at least shoot it figuratively with my camera. There it was, the little bastard, so happy. That photo is in another post, but the story continues. I had left so quickly that I wasn't wearing any shoes.

7:30 AM, I must have already woken up my roommates, but I didn't want to go back and check on them. So, barefoot, because I'd only cared about grabbing the camera, I decided to kill some time on the beach.

And there she was:

I'm not superstitious, but blessed coincidences. As if I had summoned it, I had gone from photographing a 'heron' to having one in front of me. Low tide, calm sea. For more than half an hour we walked in parallel watching each other. When it started its journey back, I started mine towards home. 14 hours later, with a couple of micheladas in my body, I told my roommates I felt like looking at the stars. And there it was, waiting for me.

It's one of those moments when I'm glad I always have a camera with me.
