The true cost of a photo

The true cost of a photo

I've been wanting to write this post for a long time. I've always wondered how much the work I see from my peers costs. I see accounts on social media constantly uploading new work, and sometimes I wonder how they do it.

Have you ever stopped to think about how much a photo costs? Leaving aside photographic equipment (cameras, lights, etc.). How much is invested in a session that is only used for that session? Location, model, makeup artist, film...

Studio: €30/hour.
Model: €50-€100/hour.
Makeup artist: €50-€100 per session.
Film: €10 + developing/scanning €16

That is, you can easily set a budget of €300 for a small session.

Most of the time, we try to work without a makeup artist, but it really makes a difference. Sometimes we shoot in our living rooms, or outdoors.

For the shooting you see above, we've invested 325€ counting location, model and rolls. Rolls are going to the lab soon O:)

I just wanted to share these numbers with you so you know where your support is invested. Big thank you to all that contribute to our work.
